Golf Cambelt change intervals

Hello, New to the forum. Just bought a VW Golf 1995 Straight Turbo Diesel. Can anyone advise me on how often the cam belt should be changed. It has done 153000 miles and the last cambelt was changed at 118000. Not sure how long they are good for. Would appreciate any advise. Thankyou

Sounds about right. I have 1998 straight diesel. Change is scheduled every 60000 miles, so you have a bit of life left yet. Wouldn't do any harm though to have a quick look at the condition of the belt every now and again. Also check the tensioner. Best to check when the engine is running. There should be no strange noises or play in the belt
