i thought these veedubs were supposed to be reliable, cant believe these threads i'm reading....... oh sorry, hi all, newbie here, got a few niggles with a MKIII gti 8v (so i'm not alone then)
bought my gti about three months ago, runs like a dream, very smooth very quick but occasionally i lose all power, its like the choke comes on or only firing on 3, have to hit the hazards, pull over and rev the nuts off it till the problem clears (usually 30 secs or so) then everythings fine for a few days? i thought the problem was solved because the other day she was completely dead but the coil had gone (new one from gsf sorted it) now the old problems back.
i've cleaned out the throttle body (seems to be common problem) but no change.
i've owned vw's before, calssic beetles and buses, so i'm used to having a box of spanners in the back but this is by far the newest and already potentially the most unreliable. any help would be great.
