alarm indicator light

Hi everyone this is my first posting as a new user, I have an intermittent problem when locking my car, the indicator light on the door sometimes doesn't come on, the car locks ok but I don't know if the alarm has set. My car is an A4 2001 on a Y plate 1.8 turbo sport.

Is it an 8D or 8E A4? Look at the chassis number and it will be wauzzz8D or E z then A or N and then six numbers.

The cxhassis no. is 8E followed by 02 A0

This is possibly indicating that the system is not "safe" so you should have a code read carried out on the system. This car has the convenience unit under the passenger’s floor and they are prone to water damage from water ingress through the heating intake duct.
