Hi Folks,
I have an 80 2.0i 16v and my brakes have gone squashy, so much so it's dangerous. I've checked for leaks, none. I've replaced the master cylinder and ABS unit and bled the system again and again.... I've been told that it might be the power steering pump that's at fault by my local Audi garage but I can't see why that would make the brakes squashy when the engines not running. If I pump the pedal it stiffens up after 3 pumps as though there's air in the system but like I say it's bled. All I can think is that there's a problem with the servo unit (it's wierd on these cars as they are powered by the power steering pump and the pipe from that enter the housing that the master cylinder bolts onto) at the back of the master cylinder. I'd hate to have to buy a new pump if it's the servo housing thats the fault.
Has anyone had this problem before and if so what was the fix??

Cheers,

Jon.,
