Hi,
My wife has a 53 plate 1.6 VW Golf MATCH. Recently I've noticed some oily residue on the brake/clutch pedal. Its been checked and apparently there is no problem.

I was under the impression that the brake rod goes direct into the cyclinder and any leak would'nt be able to extend along the brake rod to the pedal.

Can anyone confirm how the clutch is contected. Some people have told me that in a RHD vehicle the master cylinders are located on the left/passengers side of the vehicle, therefore, any leaks could'nt come across the link.

Also can anyone advise how the clutch is contected. Is it a rod/cable and where is this contected to.

Thanks

Nick

The master cylinder for the brakes is in front of the servo and for fluid to come back onto the pedal would be near impossible. However, the clutch master cylinder is directly in front of the clutch pedal and they are known for leaking and allowing fluid to drop onto the clutch pedal rubber.
