vw passat vibration noise and feel

can anyone help, my passat has a vibration noise and feel to it throughout the car when it is in idle and going through the gears. It is not the exhaust or the exhaust mountings as i have already had these checked. i have been told that it is possibly coming from the engine somewhere. Is there anyone that has had a similar problem that can help please.
