Hi all at vwaudiforum,
I'm due to pick up my first VW ever, I'm completely new to the marque. I'm getting a new Golf 1.6S Tiptronic from Corkhills of Wigan on the Motability Scheme after being very badly let down by Lythgoes Mazda.
Long story short, I ordered a Mazda 3 Auto from Lythgoes at Bolton early August and was promised a delivery date of 01/09/06, any problems they would let me know. The only phone call I ever received from these people came the day before collection to be told it would be mid-September, 16th September came, still no phone call, went in to see them to be told that they could not get me the Azura Blue I wanted, but could get me Silver, I said OK, they then said it would PROBABLY be end of October, hence a trip round the dealerships until Corkhills, saw Howard their Motability Specialist a week last Saturday, he said there were 6 x 1.6 Tiptronics available in Germany as long as I wanted Silver, I said OK, it looks like the car will be here before my paperwork is finished, top marks to Corkhills, first class.
Shame about the Mazda, I may try one some time in the future but not from Lythgoes and all for the cost of a couple of phone calls to keep me informed!!!
Anyway, to the Golf, for the base entry model, the spec is pretty impressive, six-speed auto box, air-con, ABS, HBA, ESP, side airbags, CD player, the list goes on and the build quality seems excellent, can't wait til the car arrives.
Once I've had chance to drive her for a week or so, I'll post some impressions.
