I have the early 4 speed auto box in my V5. Does this have any kind of intelligence? My old Merc C class had an "adaptive" gearbox that would learn your driving style and shift accordingly.
The Golf is very lazy and shifts up into second almost immediately after pulling away. All the shifts are too early for my driving style, to be honest. Of course, I can get around this by shifting manually, but why? I could have just bought a manual..
I knew how to reset the "brain" in the Merc's gearbox if needed (switch on ignition, press pedal into kickdown switch for 10 seconds, etc..), is there a similar procedure for the VW?
