Hi all!

Ive just been given a Golf MK5 2.0 SDI as a company car and I love it! However it seems a little slow off the mark, is there anything I can buy/ do to get a little bit more speed??

Many Thanks for your Help!!!

Maybe you could look into a tuning box from one of the forum sponsors. But seen as it is an SDI you might not be able to do much. If only it was a TDI...

Not even heard of the SDI, what's different with this engine then, no turbo?

Check out the forum sponsors page here (http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=215), they can all remap or fit and supply tuning boxes for your vehicle.

Yup.

My Octavia is 110bhp TDI, and they made them in a 68bhp SDI variant. I really would not want to own one, 110bhp is just about enough as it is!

Hi, we can remap the SDI to give 15bhp/25nm torque, not a massive amount but makes a difference...
Twin 40's I wouldn't bother with a tuning box better with a remap so you get a proper job done with warranty etc..
If anyone requires any more info please ask....:beerchug:

Steve, I am interested in the extra 15bhp/25Nm torque. Would this make much difference to fuel efficiency? Scott.

Hi Scott,
Yes mate it will make it more economical as your engine will be producing more torque so you can use a higher gear more of the time without having to rev the engine as hard. and the remap optimises all your engine settings so will be more fuel efficient.
You nee all the help you can get with an sdi.. :) he he..

My dads SDI is a factory 105ps - see attached label. He has owned the car from new.

Hmm - to me, that doesn't look like an OEM VAG label. I'm not sure thay could get 105ps out of an SDI anyway?

I can guarantee it was on there from the factory, we bought 2 brand new golf sdi's in jan 2005 and collected them the same time.

Sorry J3ggo, I'm not suggesting that you are lying. I'm assuming you picked them up from a dealer of some kind rather than the factory, if so, I would suggest the dealer has labelled them in this manner.

Something is not looking right there with the 2.0 SDI @ 105 PS..

Whats the sticker in the boot say which is next to the spare wheel,

That will give you a reading in KW.

Cheers

Rick, just seen your note, will have a look when I next see my dads car.

sgtbanjo, why would a dealer put a sticker on the car with the ps? They were both from VW main dealer Inchcape, my dads has the sticker and mine doesn't, it has a service label. I know his tows better than mine and he has a bigger van, how strange??? Its a mystery!

The only reason I can think of is to help the sales people. In my experience, half of them aren't very good at knowing facts and figures about their cars. It certainly is a mystery.

sgtbanjo, how would it help the sales people, the car was already sold, it was made to order, we ordered them in oct 2004 and they arrived in jan 2005. brand new both of them in exactly the same spec.

I also have SDI and was considering whether biodiesel would show any improvement if compatible...

mjom89

Pretty sure its not compatible... big no bio diesel symbol unside the fuel cap on my TDi!

in my limited experience with bio diesel... no improvement in performance. You just have to change the sodding fuel filter every 1000 miles!

Hi, now you know why your comany give you this model, cheap insurance and no power.even remapping only gains a small amount eg: about 8% gain in power.cheers moton
