Hi,

New member here, and hoping you can help.

I have a 1996 2.0CL estate, but it has a problem.

Whether it is warm or cold, when the engine revs drop it just cuts out, such as coming to a stop etc. It idle's ok when you next start it but then you drive off, drop the revs at the lights or somethign and it cuts out.

This started intermitantly a few months ago, but has got progressively worse until it now does it every time.

I have changed the following:

Air filter, fuel filter, plugs, leads, found a leak on an air hose and fixed that, but this has still not cured the problem.

Is this a common fault that is known, or has anyone got any more ideas of what to check?

Many thanks...

clean throttle body behind butterfly.
have many which have this problem, once fully cleaned they run like new. its because the internal diameter change behind butterfly thats required to allow air to pass under light throttle, it gets filled up with carbon build up reducing air flow causing engine to stall
