Temperture indicator not upto half way

Ive got an 96 A4 1.8 Turbo and the temperature never reaches half way!
This I think is putting the car in safe mode and the turbo's not working!
Can anyone suggest if this is the case and what I need to do?:Blush2:

You'll need a vagcom check to see whats going on really. People who've reported faulty temperature readings havent also reported the car losing power like this. Temp sensor & guage problems are quite often reported an cheap enough to get sorted. Losing power could be a multitude of things including oil pump failure, turbo failure, ECU problems............... A diagnostic check up will be needed to narrow it down, suggest its done asap!
