Brake lights don't work on my 1996 vw golf

I am hoping someone of smarter knowledge then mine will please help me. My brake lights aren't working on my 1996 vw golf. I've checked the fuse box on driver side (don't know if there is another one), put all new bulbs in, replaced brakelight switch and still haven't figured out the problem. Any suggestions will be very appreciated.

If fuse 20 is OK, check for power on the red/yellow wire to the switch. If you have power there, check for power coming out of the switch when you press the pedal. If it does, check for power on the black/red wire going to the right hand rear light unit. If you have power there and all the other lights work, you should have brake lights.
