The fuel filler neck on my 1993 MK1 Clipper has now completely rusted away and is hanging on by a thread. I need to put fuel in but am worried that it'll fall off completely when I try to put the pump nozzle in.

I'm not really willing to pay the hugely inflated price for the proper cabriolet neck and have heard that it is a simple as cutting 6 inches off the end of the standard one. Does any have experience of doing this?

Any tips on doing this and fitting it myself would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Caz

Hi

Very common fault on MK1 Golfs :(

From past experiance, I belive that you can use a hatch filler neck, but may also need to adapt the bracket, in addition to cutting the neck.

Have you tried GSF of Euro Car Parts? may be able to get a proper one cheaper.

Thanks for the advice Stuart,

Can't seem to find the Cabrio neck for less than £100 so going to give modding the hatch one a go. Seems worth risking the £35 I can buy one for.

Will let you know how I get on.....

Thanks again,

Caz
