I'm just curious, where can I find a bit of history on my engine? My car is a MK3 Golf fitted with the 1.9TD engine (AAZ).
It's actually got the Audi logo stamped on the block and after a bit of research it turns out that VW only made the 1.9 TDi, or the early 1.6 TD. I can't find anything about the 1.9 TD. Did they source if from Audi as I'm sure the 1.9TD was found in the early audi 80's/100's. Theres hundreds if not thousands or millions of TDi units knocking about in audi's and vw's, but not many TD.
Where did the 1.9TD come from?
When was it designed? (I thought it was a late 70's design?)
Is it an Audi or VW engine?
I know VW took over Audi in 1964 but if it was a VW engine wouldn't it have the VW logo and not the Audi logo on the block?
