low rev growling

Ok i have a 130 se passat and this morning coming home from the nightshift, i stopped at a junction and the car sounded like a london taxi and the power steering was acting up funny. I popped the bonnet and noticedthat the aux belt was jumping about a bit. search the forum and come up with the fact that the alternator pulley thingy had seized, phoned my mechanic and told him, he agreed and said it was a common fault brought the car up within 15 mins and he had the pulley off and was freeing it up as we had tried sorcing parts but couldnt get them today. Anyway im going to get the part tomorrow and have it installed on wednesday. what im saying now is this forum is one handy piece of equipment to be involved in, thank you all for the input you guys put in with technical solutions and listing of your own problems.
