I bought one of these through ebay in the hope that I might be able to rectify the offending component that is causing my abs warning light is stay on permanently, as it’s MOT time soon:-
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110195967377&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fsearch%2F search.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm37%26satitle% 3D110195967377%26fvi%3D1
The cable works with software version 409.1.
Through my lack of experience and haste in purchasing I was not aware that the cable/software version 409.1 is not compatible with Windows Vista and sadly my laptop is running Vista Home Premium.
I tried running the software in Xp Compatibility mode with no success.
Now I do also have a very old Pentium 2 desktop PC which runs Windows 98 which I thought I would try it on. I set this machine up on the drive and hooked up the cable. This machine was able to connect to the interface after selecting ‘usb’ port.
Once connected to the interface I proceeded to select to scan ’03-ABS Brakes’ – The comm. Status runs through attempt 1-4 and then disconnects without scanning.
Can anyone tell me a solution to this problem please?
Thanks,
David.

I am pretty sure i had the same problem with my software when first trying to run it, if i remember correctly it was becuase the usb cable assigns itself a COM port number, and rather than using the USB option you need to find out what COM port the cable is assigned too and use that option instead.

If you go into control panel and in to device manager you should be able to see which COM port it is assigned too under the Ports (COM & LPT) section

Thanks. I will take a look at that.
