Hi Forum,
I've got a 1994 2.4D with an auto box. Its a camper with FSH and 70,000 on the clock.
The auto box works well and doesn't seem to sap too much power (32-35 mpg) but when it changes from 2nd to 3rd gear there is a 'screech' from the box. The screech sound is very short and is a similar sound to a tyre braking on tarmac. Any ideas ? A problem ?
And does anybody know how to service the auto box? I know its meant to last for life but I'd feel happier changing a filter and trans fluid.
Also tappets are quite noisy till the engine is warm then they're just about audible if you listen carefully. Should I be worried ?
