Are And Vag Com / Vag Tacho The Same

Hi all,

I am just starting to have a go with Vag diagnostics and have purcahsed a VAG tacho off ebay. I need to program keys which I think this should do and have managed to get it connected for this.

I am also wanting to look at the fault codes/diagnotics but there dosen't seem to be any menus that come up for this. Can I access the diagnostics with VAG TACHO or do I need to get a VAGcom lead or do I just need to download VAG com software and use the same lead.

Any suggestions would be apprecited.
