I got mine from Wheelbase (http://www.wheel-base.co.uk/search_fit.asp?pg=1&stext=18''+VW+GOLF+MK4&stype=exact&nobox=true&submit=Search) , as they are with cetre caps, for £600 with Toyo Proxes T1-S, performance tyres.

They do interest free finance as well! I'm not part of wheelbase, just always had good experiences...

Tyre size is 225 - 40 R18's

Below is pics of car when it was clean!

i've got 18" R32 reps on mine and it bounces about at high speed so needs lowering 40mm

see this is where im confused becouse apparently lowering is not recommended and causes rubbing and you say if not it bouses so maybe 18"'s are not the way forward.

you can easy lower by 40mm without it causeing any probs its only when you go lower it starts rubbing, some people drop them really low and it does look better but causes probs

FROM ANOTHER WEBSITE

How low can you safely go before having to change other components, i read somewhere that anything more than 40mm and you have to change the rear arb?? Anyone shed anymore light on this? I only want to go at the very very most 40mm but thought i''d try and clear this up before spending the non existence money i havent got. I'm looking at a Jamex spring and shocks set.

FROM ANOTHER WEBSITE

its the front arb you have to change to go lower than 40mm, as it rubs on the drive shafts, if youve put a rear arb on, then im not sure if theres a limit for them, probably best to check with the manufacturer or someone on here will know

FROM ANOTHER WEBSITE

Yes it is the front ARB you need to replace if going any lower than -45mm.

I have got an Eibach rear ARB and standard front ARB on coilovers about -45 front - 50-60 rear.

If just putting on a -40mm Jamex spring and shocks kit you wont need to change the front ARB.

There is a few issues with different makes of springs that don't lower the rear as much as stated allthough i'm sure there has been some good reports of the Jamex kit lowering as much as they should.

Hope this helps a bit. :beerchug:

have you got a bigger pic of yours?

Ive been told that with 18" any lowering will cause problems.

How much does it cost to lower it?

but i will definatly bare in mind about the 40mm. Because when i do put my 18's on i dont need it to be touching the deck but at the same time i dot want it to look like a monster truck.

i firstly have to find a liable place to get the alloys. Apparnetly the quality of the alloy effects the quality of the drive.

yo!

I have a 1.8t and I love it but it rolls too much!! I'm lowering mine by 35mm with some sort of coil over which is fully ajustable in every sense...
and maybe a rear and front arb to...

I'm then going to leave my 16inch on there until I can afford some seroiusly bad *** 18inch wheels!!! for me handerling comes first over looks!! aiiii

and plus the anni edition of the mk4 is lowered by 35mm and has 18inch rimms! and I don't think vw would be putting the wrong combo together...;)

Bevsy, have you got collies? maybe you can adjust them by going slightly higher or adjust the damping..

Hi guys, I am new here...but hopefully this helps (as my first post!)

18" RS4 reps (old style) and I haven't lowered it. It's settling much better now and isn't that bad, though some days I wish it was 40mm lower.

By the way, I am from the MkIV forums and usually meet with the buckingham VAG guys...
