I own a A6 1.9TDI (2001) and have only had it 7 months and already appear to be running into some strange problems.

The fault started around one month ago when the car started to judder at around 3000 revs? No fault lights and you could easily accelerate through it.

1 week later the juddering got worse and the abs/traction control light came on. It was that bad that i had to pull over and switch the engine off. When i restarted the engine it ran perfectly and showed no faults?

The intermittent fault carried on like that for a few weeks. Now the fault has moved on and it appears every time you start the car when its cold ( parked for over 4/5 hours). The car only runs on 3 cylinders and the ABS / Traction control light comes. I have to drive the car like this for about 4 miles (until warm) then restart the engine, again it then runs perfectly??

The fault code shows a fault on injector 2....Im a bit reluctant to replace it though as im not convinced. Why would an injector need the engine to be restarted to make it run correctly? and it also confuses me the way the fault has changed its characters...HELP PLEASE :zx11:

Come on guys :D give me some thoughts please

If i dont hear otherwise I will be changing the injector.

Has anyone done this before?
How easy / hard is it?
Any specialised tools required?

:biglaugh: Any assistance would be a massive help:biglaugh:

Hi

This sound exactly like my problem - thread posted on cylinder 1 misfire. basically the car runs on 3 injectors you turn itiff and on and its ok - although it has now got worse and you have to leave it longer. Thought is was injector but VW said it wasn't (as it had been repleced within the last 2 years so was still under warranty). They then changed the wiring loom for a fee of £125 which still didn't solve problem. They then said it was the ECU and said it was £1000 for a new one - ouch! I was then told you could get second hand ECUs so went on the net on www.carsparpartfinder.co.uk (http://www.carsparpartfinder.co.uk) and a firm called Autotek contacted me who said they could test mine and diagnose the problem. DON't USE - they charged me £290 and it is just the same as befor but apparently it has had a whole new board or something? - think he is talking total bull to be honest! Anyway £425 down and still got the problem. Booked into an independent VW specialist (as VW main dealer havn't got a clue) on Monday so i'll let you know if I have any luck.

Cheers

Try adding some Millers diesel power plus to clean things out. Take it for a run down the motorway

Hi

Just to keep you informed - the car has now been into two VW specialists and still no joy. Is going back to another VW specilist next week (these specilists don't charge you when things don't work like VW main dealer!). Hope you solve your problem - keep me informed.

Good Luck

I have the same problem with my golf and have similar symptoms. I ve changed the wiring loop and with mine it looses power when you hit high speed say 80mph+. The tracking light is also on all the time. My local mechanic checked it and said its the injector 2 and 4. How did you solve yours i know its been ages...

In the end my problem was a short on the wiring loom. Not convinced myself though, asked to see the old part but the Audi dealership had thrown it away ?? Anyway think it cost £120 all in.

If it is your injectors get ready for a massive bill. They quoted me £300 + each !!

try getting youre injectors reconditioned, cost me £100 for 4 on my old car. sounds to me youre problem could be a bad earth because of the other warning lights coming on. so clean all youre earth staps as see if that makes a difference.
