Hi All,

Many thanks Stuart for the welcome and introduction.

I have teh chance to buy a 1997 Sharal CL Petrol with 240000 miles on the clock, teh interior and exterior are is very clean condition for its age..not sure of eth service history as yet..but price is good under £500 Bucks.

I have been looking for a people carrier for some time now for the sake of my family and work so I am looking at it as a practical second car, I would have prefered a 1.9TDI but its out of my budget currently.

I am pretty handy with engines and was thinking of doing the usual timing belts and head gasket to start with.

My question is.

Will I be wasting my money?
Is there a haynes manual available for the Sharan?
How good is the petrol engine? Many thanks in advance folks

Airie!

Teh petrol engine might cost you some bucks but from what I know they are farily sturdy engines. Teh head gasket shouldn't need replacing unless its damaged for any reason tho teh timing belt and teh general servicing is a good idea.

It seems teh haynes manual is available over here at least:
