Hello,

is anyone aware if wheels from a Touareg will fit a passat B6? Althernatively what others wheels from the Vag Group have exactly the same dimensions as the B6.

Thanks in Advance

Nick

Touareg PCD is 5 x 120 and Passat is 5x112 with the Touareg ET being around ET60 and Passat being around ET 45 that would leave enough room for a 15-mm spacer adapter so in theory, yes.

Thanks does the PCD not mean the holes would not line up? Additionally is there a ready made spacer and if a spacer was used would it not mean the wheel was in the wrong position for the hubs putting more stress on the wheel bearings and suspension?

Yes PCD is the bolt spacing, Pitch Circle Diameter. I don't know if there is an off the shelf spacer available but it wouldn't cause excessive loadings if there was BUT I don't like adapters or spacers. It would be better to find the wheel you want in the correct offset (ET), size (WxD) and PCD.

I agree, the only issue is that I want something from the VAG range and ideally in 19"

Any ideas?

VW don’t approve of 19’s on the Passat 3C and even have this warning about 18’s;

"Caution

Fitting 8 J x 18" wheels is possible only under the following conditions:

The vehicle must have either a sports running gear with approx.15 mm lowered suspension equipped with spring travel limiters or spring travel limiters with Votex part number 000.071.501/A must be fitted on front and rear axles. In both cases the rear axle camber must be set to -1°45'.

Widened wheel housings (FLAPS) must additionally be installed, with the exception of Germany - here, the widened wheel housings (FLAPS) can be omitted with TÜV certificate No. 2174/05."

Thanks for the heads up. Based on this I will not fit 19" but go for 18" instead. I had the same sort of caveat on my old V70 where you were supposed to fit steering limiters etc. I think 18"s will be okay providing i keep the same rolling radius.

There is a caveat on the Golf 4 platform over steering lock and 17" wheels where you are supposed to fit a reduced lock steering rack but in practice it is rarely a problem.

It depends on what B6 model; The Milwauki wheels fitted as standard to 'S' models are 7Jx16 and fitted with 215/55 R16 Tyres.
The Catalunya whhels are the same spec as the above but are fitted as standard to SE Models.
Adelaide wheels are fitted to SEL as standard and have the same spec as above.
Solitude wheels are fitted to SEL 4MOTION models but not available as option but use 235/45 R17 Tyres.
Westwood 7½Jx17 are an option across the range.
Macau 7½Jx17 are an option across the range
Le Mans 7½Jx17 are an option across the range
Monte Carlo 7½Jx17 standard on Sport Models but option on other models except 4MOTION

Hopefully there is enough information I would compare with the Toureg website and see if it might work - good luck !

I'm running a UK 2006 B6 Sport 2.0 Tdi 140 and I've just bought a set of 19's with 225/35/19's does anyone know if this is gonna become a nightmare once they're fitted, I thught 18's might look a little lost on the arches....

To be correct you should be using a 235/35 19 which is the recommended size so the 225/35 19 will be about 4-mm smaller than the optimum so the speedo will over read slightly. If you are going from 16 or 17 the reduction in ride quality is going to be a bit of a shock.

Good point, it's on the original 17's at the moment, did want 235's but the wheels already have tyres so will stick with them. I only use this car to go up and down the motorways with my job, as long as I can get it looking right.

Dreading the thought of it raising the car up, hoping the arch gap stays similar, been looking on the web for pics of Passat sports (15mm lower) with 19's but haven't seen much.

Cheers for your response! :beerchug:

How can they raise the car if they are smaller than the ideal rolling radius? The gap between the top of the tyre and the arch will be slightly bigger though as you are using a tyre that is slightly smaller.

Like a real geek i just sat and worked it out, bear with me....

17's with 235 40's are 61.98cm overall diameter (17" = 43.18cm then 40% of the 23.5 cm width = 9.4cm profile x 2 as the profile of the tyre is on either edge of the rim)

19's with 225 35's are 64.06cm overall diameter (19" = 48.26cm then 35% of the 22.5 cm width = 7.9cm profile x 2 as the profile of the tyre is on either edge of the rim)

This means the difference is 2.08cm which doesn't sound much but I think it could make the car appear slightly higher which I don't fancy the thought of, guess I'm gonna have to pick them up, fit them and see how it looks!

God I've really bored my self and quite possibly everyone who happens to read it......

I agree but where does 235/40 17 come into it? The recommended 17 inch wheel tyre size is 235/45 17 which have an overall diameter of around 644-mm.

Hero! I really should've double checked my current tyre size, they are indeed 45 not 40.

That set's my mind at rest, I'll be adding pictures once they're on for all to see and give feedback.

Thanks for the info / advice! :arms:
