t4 transporter hard to get 1st gear

hi could anyone advise on why my 1.9td t4 transporter 1998 is hard to select 1st gear after travelling about 10 miles whan i say hard to select 1st seems to get closer to reverse cheers nuttykev

Hi Nutty. How many miles has your gearbox and clutch done? Assuming its not something simple like worn bushes on your gear selection mechanism, I'd check gearbox oil level first. its feasible your selector forks in your gearbox are worn, depends on how many miles you've done. I'd expect syncro mesh to go first anyway. First stop oil level check/change oil and gear linkage.
