1997 Polo red flashing light on dash

what i think is the hand brake light started flashing on my dash board today along with a beeping noise.
went on for about 30 secs then stopped
must be trying to tell me something, but what?:confused:
can anyone help?

omg seems like a few of the latest topics on this forum have happened to me now or in the past .... i had this light for the handbrake start flashing one morning..... as if i was lifting the handbrake nn releasin it over and over again while driving..... it stopped all of a sudden ..... never seen it since!

this happened to me on my old car, a mk2 Clio and the rear brake drum split and left me with no brakes!
