Can anyone tell what is the right thing to do regarding deisel turbos, some people have said that at the end of a journey i should let the car idle for a little while to allow the turbo to cool down, but others have said being a lower reving engine this is not necessary. I have had my A4 from new and shes now just over a year old and i have never bothered letting her tick over at the end of a journey before, but i would really hate to blow the turbo through ignorance.
Would appreciate any comments.

Cheers

If you drive relatively 'normally' there is no need to let the turbo cool down.

If you really really hammer the car (high temp's/track use/boy racer etc), you should slow down for the last minute of your journey, or let the car idle for 30sec's or so.

This will help prevent wear on our 'journal bearing' turbo's.
