a4 build up of water

ive noticed a lot water in the drivers side footwells .ive tried my best to locate were water is coming from , sunroof drainage holes, under the bonnet, door seals though im not too sure what to look for there.The windscreen although secure doesnt look quite right.Is it possible to take drivers seat out without too much aggro enabling me to dry the carpet and sound proofing and check more thoroughly to see where the water is coming from?

check under the bonnet where the battery and pollen filter are located for blocked drainage holes that cause build up of water.

I had a similar issue, with major amounts of water appearing in the rear passenger footwell and some in the front.

The funny thing was it was always damp, but the water level seemed to go up and down [and fill up really quickly].

I also had a dodgy heater blower at the time and after hunting round for new brushes or a blower assembly I finally found an assembly at a scrappies.

I had my suspisions that it was a combination of the the aircon/faulty blower, and this proved to be correct as about a week after fitting the new blower the footwells were dry and the problem has not reappeared in the six months since!

Without a doubt the water in the footwell is caused by a blockage of a drain hole which is under the battery. It is normally caused by leaves and other rubbish falling between the windscreen and the bonnet. The water level builds up on the left hand side and floods through the bonnet release cable gland through the bulkhead into the footwell. Hope this helps.

This could be caused by the heater matrix being faulty.
I had this problem with a Nissan Bluebird 2.0 Diesel I had years ago. Most of the dashboard had to come out to get to it.

Had this problem on my 2003 Audi A4. It turned out to be a poorly bonded wind screen. Replaced by my local Audi garage under warrenty

i also have water in the passenger footwells, the front is not bad but the back is a lot, also my heater blower hasnt been working that well for a month or so, and im sure this problem has something to do with that, sometimes the blower works as if its okay and other times it doesnt work that well, i have had a look in the battery compartment and there isnt any water there, just a few leaves which i have removed. need to do something fast as the water is not good long term, eventually the car will start to smell stale.
