Rationalised 2005 Model Year A2 range features Special Edition petrol and TDI models
New A2 Special Edition models powered by 1.4 (75PS) and 1.4 TDI (75PS) engines now available to order priced at £12,715 OTR and £13,695 OTR
Based on Standard specification with the addition of electronic climate control and Concert radio with single CD player, increasing price advantage over outgoing equivalents to approx. £2,000 in each case
Two Special Edition models replace all other existing A2 Standard, SE and Sport models
New versions of the advanced aluminium-bodied Audi A2 are set to make its space efficiency, fuel frugality and premium brand quality even more easily attainable. The new A2 1.4 (75PS) Special Edition and A2 1.4 TDI (75PS) Special Edition models are available to order now at OTR prices of £12,715 and £13,695 respectively for first deliveries in January 2005.
Based on the standard A2 model, the new Special Edition versions gain key items of equipment that help to give them an overall price advantage over outgoing equivalents of around £2,000 in each case. With immediate effect they replace all other existing A2 Standard, SE and Sport models.
Special Edition models add electronic climate control and a Concert radio with single CD player to the A2 standard equipment list, which includes 15-inch alloy wheels, remote control central locking, electric front windows and mirrors and a full complement of safety and security features. All optional extras currently offered for outgoing Standard models will be available to A2 Special Edition customers.
The advanced design of the Audi A2 flouts convention. It remains the only volume production car to feature a body shell built entirely from aluminium, reducing its weight by over 40 per cent compared to an equivalent steel-bodied counterpart. Combined with a very low drag coefficient of just 0.28, this brings benefits in ride comfort, handling agility, performance and fuel economy.
The A2 1.4 TDI Special Edition is capable of covering up to an impressive 64.2 mpg (combined cycle), produces an exceptionally low CO2 output of 116g/km, can accelerate from rest to 62mph in 12.3 seconds and, where permissible, is good for a 107mph top speed.
