Passat 1.9 TDI Timing Belt

Hi everyone

I just wondered if somebody could confirm the interval for a timing belt on the above.

It has been changed... 9 years ago and at 40,000 miles. Car is now on 100,000 with no further proof to say it has been changed in the interim.

Would it be safe to say it needs changing? If so, what is the 'rough' cost of this at a local garage (not main dealer etc.)

Cost to have it done at a garage would range from £250-300. I do mine at home and it costs me about £120-130. Takes about 3-4 hours all being well.

How difficult is it? I'm not a complete novice when it comes to cars, but they are usually from the 70's/80's rather than more modern cars.
