I've just replaced my EGR valve with an Allard bypass kit. At the same time I removed the actuator control valve for the EGR and vac pipes to both the EGR and Air shut off flap within the unit. (I blanked off the vac supply pipes and left the vent to Atmos. clear).
The engine performs well except that shortly after moving off from a cold start it will stop when the car is slowed ; but restart immediately. This happens a couple of times during the first few of minutes driving, then performs faultlessly for the rest of the journey.
I'm assuming that the ECU still thinks the EGR is present and that is causing the problem. (the MAP sensor has also just been replaced).
Is there a way to turn off the EGR in the software?

Thanks in advance
