Hi

I want to change the oil in my cars haldex coupling, I know the oil is G052176A1, but I also want a filter, does any one know the part number.
I have looked and can only find the number for a MK1 TT - 02D52555

My car is an 09 2.0 tdi

Thanks Ian

Only certain axle codes used a filter and typical only on the 3.2 V6. If it did have a filter the number for the kit is 02D 598 574. If you message me your reg number I can tell you if yours has a filter or not. There is no such oil as G 052 176 A1, there is the G 052 145 A1 but that is the gear oil for the diff, not the Haldex, don't drain the wrong one, it has been known! The Haldex oil is G 055 175 A2 which comes as 1 litre, cars without filters need 650Ml and cars with need 720Ml.

Thank you so much for your advice, I have ordered a litre from Audi

Just one more question if I may, in your first reply you stated 'don't drain the wrong one' How will I know which is the correct drain and fill plugs ? I am not as stupid as I appear, just don't want to get it wrong

The bolt to drain the Halex oil looks nothing like a drain bolt and more like a case bolt, without a picture (can’t do this at home) you may miss the bolt and take out the diff drain bolt, many (including VAG dealer mechanics as documented on this forum) have made this mistake and destroyed thousands of £’s worth of final drive.

Yikes, now I am worried !

I found this clip on youtube, It is well explained and looks straight forward (famous last words), is this correct procedure for changing the oil ?

I have also read that although the filter is a non serviceable part, it's recommended to remove the pump to clean the plastic filter gauze, would you recommend this ? my car has done 109,000 miles and according to the service history the haldex has not had the oils changed for quite a while

Yes that M10x30 bolt at the lower front left of the case (N 910 827 01) which needs an 8mm hex key to remove is the drain plug, I suppose they changed from using the tiny little M10x1 5mm Hex plug, (the same as the filler plug shown) to such a chunky design as so often we find the PQ34 Haldex drain plug thread is damaged and it is not easy to repair as the case is extremely thin at that point so you can only use an ultra short insert.
