Hi,

I'm performaing a clutch change on a 1998 1.4 8v engine. :1zhelp: I would like to know the best way to get the driveshafts out, so I can drop the box and get at the clutch. I can see two ways, either split the shafts by the torx bolts at the gearbox end or pull the shafts out by removing the castle nut & hub.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Chris

Update

I split the shafts with a T40 torx bit. some *** had done a couple of them up too tight and they rounded so I banged in an allen key and undid them. I removed the two bolts per side securing the damper & springs to the hub and this gave enough room to pull the shafts out.

I am now stuck on removing the gearbox. I have undone as many bolts as I can find, however there is one attached which I can't undo. It seems like it's welded on - I put all my weight on the adjustable spanner and it didn't shift. Could someone confirm that it must be removed?

I doused the ******* in WD40 last night so hopefully it should budge today. Thanks for the reply :beerchug:
