I have an S4 (http://www.audi-forums.com/b6-forum/45768-behaviour-s4-v8-tiptronic-transmission.html#) V8 with Tiptronic and i want to know if my transmission behaves normal.
My transmission tends to jerk when I have little or no engineload and upshift or when I step of the throttle. When I drive at slow speeds and get of the throttle completely, the transmission makes a little jerk as if it wanted to throw in next gear and then cancelled. Also, when driving in manual-mode with little load in fifth gear, it makes the same kind of jerking when upshifting to 6th, not like when going from 4th to 5th where its just a smoot upshift.
The symptom feels like some kind of gear engaging. Like putting your motorcycle (http://www.audi-forums.com/b6-forum/45768-behaviour-s4-v8-tiptronic-transmission.html#) in 1th gear at standstill with its engine on. Although its just not just one jerk but 2 or 3 really rapid jerks at once.
I have not had the car (http://www.audi-forums.com/b6-forum/45768-behaviour-s4-v8-tiptronic-transmission.html#) for so long so I cant really tell if this is normal. Does anyone with an S4 Tiptronic have the same symptoms?

i have the same gearbox with the paddle shift and the only time i get a slight bump is when going into reverse
between the gears it is seamless
from what you have described its possible the oil requires changing but there is also a lot of confusion as to whether or not this should be done as some gearboxes are sealed and some are not

if you have any more problems contact me direct at dualmono21@hotmail.com

Ive done some testing yesterday and also had a service-rep from our Audi dealer in Gothenburg for a spin. I get the same transmission-feeling when driving in 25 km/h and changing between 2nd and 3rd gear, almost every time. Also, same thing when going in 90 and changing from 5th to 6th.

The service-rep said, and I said that i can very well beleive this is normal since im fiddeling manually with the gears in the same time, but I cant understand why I every now and then get the same stutter when i accelerate from 0 to 10-20 km/h and lift of the trottle and then after 0.5-1 seconds the transmission stutters/jerks, or what happened a couple of days ago, when driving downhill with no engineload without changing gears, it suddenly makes one sudden jerk with no gearchange.

We agreed ile drive for a month and we'll se if it gets worse or not. Other than that, i really like the transmission, and wouldnt trade it for the world for a manual.
