Trouble starting A3

Hi all,

I sometimes have a problem starting my 1997 A3 1.8SE (AGN engine).
It cranks over fine but occasionally there is a rapid clicking noise, presumably a relay, from under the dash. It usually takes a couple of tries to get the engine running.

It is not a big problem at present but I am concerned it may develop into one.

Any help/ideas gratefully received.

Problem now sorted. The crank speed sensor was not bolted firmly to the block.
