I'm thoroughly confused on the subject of engine oil. The owner's manual is not very helpful. (The car is a 2002 A4 3.0 quattro Sport.)
The manual refers to both VW 503 00 and 503 01 specifications for petrol-engined models in the body. The technical section at the back says that 503 00 is correct for my car. So far, so good. But I can't see 503 01 recommended for any model in the range. So why is it mentioned in the manual?
Can I safely use 503 01 in my car?
I ask because it's actually quite difficult to find 503 00 around here. I don't have an Audi or VW dealer anywhere near. The local parts shop (Halfords) appears to sell sell 503 01, but not 503 00.
Second question: Does anyone have any opinions of Millers Oil? They seem to make a 503 00 oil. (This might not be relevant - I don't actually know anywhere around here selling it.)
