diy service a3 1.6 tdi 2016

Is it worth replacing the fuel and air filter every 10k ?

your input would be highly appreciated

Thanks :)

They almost certainly won't need replacing after 10k unless you drive behind a lorry down a dusty track every day or are filling up with dirty diesel out of an old farm tank. remove the air filter and have a look at it, vacuum any leaves out of the intake up to the filter and knock the dead flies etc out of the pleats, if it still looks dirty, change it, if it's still pretty white leave it. I've gone 20 or 30 k between air filters. You need to be careful changing the fuel filter on those engines and make sure it is primed fully, I think you should use VCDS or something to run the in-tank pump to fully prime it and avoid risking damage to the HP pump. You should also consider the remaining warranty period, the possibility of the EGR valve / cooler failing on that engine and any goodwill from Audi towards that expense evaporating. Just my opinion though.

Many thanks for your reply. I thought egr valve/cooler was an issue on the previous model audi a3. Does this problem still exist on the 2016 1.6 tdi A3 ?

is the egr valve/cooler located at the front or back of the engine ? Thanks :)

It's buried up the back, maybe they changed the design on the later engines, and it's better now but I've not got much faith in them - I'd just consider weighing up warranty etc against the savings made by DIY service.
