Hi Guys and gals,

I have a second hand Passat, 2015 B8 4motion 1.tsi

The "inspection", NOT service, reminder has come on.

Do i need to do this, I purchased the car December 2017.

If i do not do this, do i void any warranty, as its not the service I am not sure.

It feels like snake oil servicing, they'll check fluids, wipers, bulbs, brakes, tyres etc all of which I can do myself, just worried about the warranty.

Thanks

H

Take it you have a 3 year VW warranty with the car

It just depends when this runs out

The car counts the amount of times you open the bonnet, presumably to check oil etc

I just change my oil every 10,000 miles and oil filter myself , with my Autel VAG505 I can reset my service light & inspection light to 10,000 miles . I don't like the Long Life 20,000 mile service, as over 10,000 miles I have to top up the oil quite a lot ........................... but with the 10,000 mile service it doesn't use any

Yes coming to the end of the warranty in December this year.

I'm concerned that the car servicing hasn't been adhered to because all i see in the service manual, is a stamp for March 2017, stating as a non oil change inspection, with then further says with oil change, a bunch of no's apart from the oil.

My onboard says oil service Next year but this inspection seems to be next month (12 months form the last inspection).

Should i assume that the service that the card had in 2017, was an oil service and this is just a "intermediate" service

I think the service plan is set to the long life, 2 year or X amount of miles for the oil and then a shorter inspection after 12 months or X amount of miles - which ever comes sooner.

I think the service schedule is one of the numbers on the sticker in the Service Schedule booklet that comes with the car ie the Q number.

2017 Mk7 Volkswagen Golf R DSG - which engine oil should I use?? (http://jaykaycars.com/motoring/articles/2017-volkswagen-mk7-golf-r-dsg-engine-oil-.cfm)

Lol , why did they make it slightly complicated .

504.00 507.00 is the highest quality VAG oil of 14 or so specs , use it for dpf , non dpf , fixed and variable LongLife .

UNIVERSAL !
