Difference between 3.0 engines- just tune state ?

Im about to change my trusty 2.7 tdi A6 for a late 2011 3.0 tdi A7 and want to find out more about what Im getting and what performance options are available.

When I first got the A6 I realised it's 2.7 V6must have some potential being a slightly underbored and detuned version of the 3.0 detuned to 177bhp. Indeed a mild remap woke it up and it no longer drove like a 2 litre 4 pot.

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between the 214bhp 3.0 in the A7 Im getting and the more potent 245bhp, 268/272 bhp versions ? Does this engine respond as well as the 2.7 to a remap ?

It will respond well to remap, but same would do bigger horsepower 3.0 tdi.
On both of these engine first limiting factor is size of turbocharger.
Smaller horsepower version have had its trouble with DSG (S tronic) automatic if given way more power.

I finally gor around to having the remap done on my A7 whilst it was in for a service and MOT.

Thanks for the warning about not straining the transmission. I spoke to the tuner about this and we decided on a moderate map which took it from 204 to 246 bhp. Economy around town seems no worse and im looking forward to seeing it's affect on a long run.
