Does anyone know if there’s a way to get Audi connect working when you don’t have the SIM card slot? I’ve got the 3G plus system with two sd slots. I found a thread elsewhere where they’ve done it by using a router and phone connection but that’s from a few years back on different firmware.

Thanks in advance.

Yes thats true, you can make it working with portable router, ethernet to usb adapter and passive usb hub with 2 usb slots. All of that must be connected to AMI interface which is located in glovebox or under the armrest depends which car you have. If you are interested I have all of that so you can contact me on private message for details.

Other solution is via wifi(without using AMI), but i have not investigated this yet. Via AMI is posted instructions everywhere.

Audidua - how much you using this in real life?

I did my swap only month ago, now thinking should i do phone mirror or adding connect, first choice should be more useful(as i see this from your post also:) and with 3G+ there is way more better things to watch then google maps). Regarding over wifi, no, i dont know yet how, i know it works for ALL 3G+ as kit is for sale...but no real interest yet to start investigation how-to. I think it includes somekind of custom soft patch also, but thats normal for cars which are out of warranty anyway:)...at least my!

In the Green Menu it says that Google Earth isn't installed. Can I install that from the 0942 firmware by using "user defined"?

What kit would this be, can you PM details? :-)

I've looked into this for a while and came to the conclusion the only way to access google maps is via a SIM card slot in the head unit or via the rSap method, but it still requires the SIM card slot to be there, but in this case your not using the SIM slot.

I'm assuming there is a software module not activated within the head unit unless there is a SIM slot. So thats why people who have a phone that supports rSap still can't access google maps. :-(
