hi
Ihave just had cambelt break and garage had head off etc no damage but now the car shakes when driven between 1600-2000 rpm(similiar to missfire or even wheel balance) only on acceleration no shake on overrun this is very noticeable in 4th and 5th. Out of that rev range the car is smooth
The garage have said they now think the dual mass flywheel needs replacing this was replaced 40,000 miles ago (before Iowned car)
The car did not do this before going into garage
The clutch does not slip or judder at all
I have faith in garage but wonder if they are right
any help would be appreciated

Chances are that some valves were bent and not seating properly. At tickover, the ECU is controlling the smooth running by constantly monitoring the engine rpm. If the engine speeds up, then he is injecting less diesel to the next injector to slow the rpms. If one of the pistons is loosing conpression, you will have the same issues. Did the garage done a leak-down test ?

Pretty unlikely from what youve said, but having the cambelt break could possibly have damaged clutch, and maybe even the flywheel. The clutch is effectively the fuse between engine and gearbox....
The drive straps could bend if the engine seizes, but that wouldnt cause judder, more it wouldnt clear/disengage.

thanks garage confirmed that head was pressure tested and again when fitted back on engine was leak tested said it was ok
