New A5 Sportback S Line Skirts - DUMB QUESTION!

Apologies for the dumb question.

Took delivery of a new A5 SB S Line in Dayton Grey.

I have just noticed, when cleaning the car, that the S Line skirts are rough to the touch and the paint finish on them is matt, rather than the shiny wax finish on the rest of the panels.

I'm sure that this must be intentional, but I've never noticed this finish on my previous S Line which was a 2010 A4 Avant.

Can anyone confirm that this finish on the skirts is intentional?

Same on the S5 - may need to dig out the old "Back to Black" gel to keep them looking tip top. Remember this was the norm with non painted bumpers!
