Hello all,

Having found this an excellent resource in the past i am back with my latest fault!
'51 plate GT TDI 56k 130 (chipped 180bhp)

There is a problem with my boot catch i.e it wont shut and the catch isnt locking - causing an annoying beep.... 'luggage compartment' on my display and the obvious hassle of my boot flapping around!

Having removed the caseing around the catch in the boot the electrical part seems to be working fine - responding to key fob etc. My guess is that the fault is in the main catch - the square metal plate like mechanism attached to the boot lid.

a) is this likely to be faulty?
b) is this a mian dealer only part?
c) does it come as a single unit - no need to replace the electrical part!?

N.B i have tried to use the key manually - even with lots of WD40 the lock has jammed as its probably never had a key inside it in its life!

Many thanks in advance to any light being shed on my problem!

Sounds like the catch has collapsed inside, think its a dealer part only to be honest n i also think you can only get the micro switch seperate which doesnt help you cos thats only for the interior bootlamp, why dont you try a scrap yard if there too expensive at dealers
