View Full Version : Intelligent Coasting?

So how does intelligent coasting actually work? The handbook says it will coast unless you are on a steep gradient but mine seems to be far more intelligent than that! Has anyone got any ideas why? Is it linked to the satnav and speed limits? Mine will coast and as I approach a junction it slips back in gear. I thought it was speed related but it stays in coast mode down to much slower speeds on a clear road.
Also after using the paddles it coasts and instead of displaying D it stays in manual but coasts and displays M. It seems to be super clever. Not always correct but it certainly seems to have inputs other than gradient.

Any ideas from some techy types??

It uses the Sat Nav I believe.

Thanks Nick. I have been asking some techies, and playing. So far as I have been told it uses the satnav plus the pre-sense camera plus the over-run acceleration rate (gradient) and decides what to do. It can also be overridden with the paddles which makes it all but bl**dy perfect. Amazing!
