Auto handbrake

Has anyone worked out the pattern when the handbrake will come on automatically when you press the engine stop button?

Sometimes it does, sometimes not.....and I'll be damned if I can work out when or why........

Don't know if it's the same in the A5, but in my A6 you need to have the seat belt on for the handbrake to be automatically applied when you switch off the engine. That's caught me out once or twice after taking the seat belt off to reach across to get a car park ticket in France.

Well I hadn't thought of that, but it doesn't seem to be the case. It worked this morning getting the car out of the garage with no belt, but not when I got home with my belt still on.

It's not a big deal, but just annoying....
