View Full Version : Question Lowering a B7 on springs with 19"....

Hi folks, I was wondering what the best for comfort lowering spring is ? I know that coilovers are the best choice but I just can't justify the budget for them at the minute. I was possibly looking to drop 40mm to take the gap out of the arches. I was just looking to see if anyone had experienced what size and manufacture? Many thanks in advance.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170924/ae0560b2cc809050ea0eca8f3119cd8e.jpg

Eibach Sportlines .Are they a good enough spring Gaz ? I know that I will definitely have a harder ride but trying to avoid a boneshaker lol

The best for comfort in the world , H&R would be too firm , what dampers have you , how many miles have they done?

Perfect then [emoji106] I just have the standard Sline shocks in here which have covered 100k. I know that it's good practice to replace them but I will wait until they blow and worry about it then lol. I need 2 top arms, inner rack end and track rod end so might just buy a full suspension kit and replace the lot at the same time.

Oooh no , bad practice..

Oem S-line shocks were never all that anyway and 100k .

Get new OE Bilstien B4 .

What would be the lowering from S-line to Eibach Sportline ?

To be fair I own a VAG indi and very rarely replaced socks on them so just going to chance it lol. I think the sline is meant to be about 20mm lower than standard but mine sits just as high as an SE for some reason so I am hoping the Sportsline will take that gap away 🤞

Yes the shocks are of a quality they don't weep they soften their damping ability as my father's old 100k Passat B6 Sport did as we jiggled along I knew it was dampers as I was a occasional occupant but he maintained "Oh it's got the sports suspension ," not realising it's gradual decline as he drove it everyday .

You'll be surprised how bad the ride quality etc got if you renew completely .

So I reinforce what I said renewing the dampers , you've got a smart B7 Avant there that shouldn't be half assed on .

Also the front and rear top mounts should be replaced .

Do it once , do it right !

24 hours later and I am looking at "mid ranged priced" coilovers [emoji23]

Never as refined as Eibach springs.

Never as refined as Eibach springs.Really ? So you reckon that the correct upgraded bilstin shocks with the Eibach springs would be more comfy ? I'm sort of worried at the same time that it will not be low enough as it will only drop it 20mm more than what I have (the sline) [emoji848]
First world problems eh [emoji23]

Absolutely , going lower than 20mm will make the underside vulnerable to scrapes and throw the tracking out , low and some normal range alignment angles won't be achievable .

I didn't alter the tracking after Eibach Pro dropped my Sport by 15mm and it clears large speed bumps .

Have you any pictures of yours Gaz? I really appreciate all your help by the way, it seems to only be yourself that replies to anything on the forum lol.

I haven't a B7 , but the experience across the VAG range is the same .
