I notice from the how to guide that you can use the VAG COM system to change for example the speed locking faciltiy on your car.

How can I get hold of this and make my changes?

Have a read on here, www.ross-tech.com (http://www.ross-tech.com) you can but a third party cable from ebay for as Little as £15 and use the shareware version as a start.

If you want to do changes then you need to buy a static license or a genuine cable.

look here www.gendan.co.uk (http://www.gendan.co.uk) but a google search will turn up more suppliers.

Shareware with 3rd party lead -read codes only.:D

Registered version with 3rd party lead - read codes and change stuff including anti-hijack...even though I switched it off again because its annoying:biglaugh:

It sounds like if I'm going to work on this car (2003 A4) myself, I'm going to have to spring for the VAG-COM software.

Do I really need the Hex-USB + CAN version?

I'm guessing that I do since it is the most expensive :biglaugh:

I not sure you do as they change around 2004/5 so it may be worth checking your exact car to see which interface it has.

Just to let you know the Shareware version will allow you to do the door locking @ 10 MPH and double click for all doors....

Hi guys,

I'm looking at fitting cruise contol to my 03 Passat but I presume I need to enable the cruise control using VAG-COM? Will the shareware version allow me to do this?

the lead look fine, but eshrules on here does one that will work ;)

on the restrictions look at www.ross-tech.com (http://www.ross-tech.com) for what you can do, i know basic setting and some adoptions are no available ;)

Is there a document that describes all the codes and what they do?
e.g. all the alarms codes, how to enable/disable cruise, enable/disable doors auto lock, etc etc etc

There must be some kind of reference to all the fault codes and how to make changes.
