Evening all,

I am soon putting my year old Avant in for its first service, is it still important or worthwhile having Audi dealers do the service? What are the impacts to sticking it in with an Audi specialist? Does anyone have an opinion or knowledge they wouldn't mind sharing?

Audi Edinburgh want £230.

ive got my car on PCP at the moment and in all honesty will probably trade it back in for another Audi when done.

Any thoughts appreciated.

I would think you will get a better trade in deal on your next one if it has dealer service history, also a kinder ear if you have to take it back in for any warranty issues in the next few years. Just my thoughts, I've never had to deal with Audi personally, although I have been putting our 2 year old little VW UP into the dealers for its two services, much to my shame!

Reading though some threads going a few years back, consensus is to stick with Audi. Cheers

Try and get them to price match with a local independent. Find a decent indy and use them for the VW so they get some business!

Paul, out of interest have you had your Avant serviced yet by Edinburgh Audi or did you go elsewhere? My 1year old Avant has just been in.

Not yet mate, it's a week or two away! How was it for you?

Hi Paul, not great to be honest. Its my third A4 from them and never had a problem with servicing up to now. However, after a real saga of their making landed up leaving it overnight at their behest - went to pick it up following day to find damage on offside - rear wheel arch to drivers door. This is currently being investigated. Was gutted when I saw my car.

When I saw your post above thought I should mention. Cheers.

Sorry to hear that Dave, assuming they will fix it in full? Did they give you a courtesy car whilst they investigate?

Thanks
Paul

Hi Paul, no I still have my car. They've booked it into the body shop in a couple of weeks time to fix it. Matter still being investigated apparently.

Cheers
Dave

My 18K mile service was due last month, and Leeds Audi wanted £460 for the service! I had my B8 serviced there, and was sure it was closer to £350 (which was still hard to swallow). After making a fuss, the assistant went to see if she could do it any cheaper, and came back with an offer of £444.

So I went to an independent and got it done for £160. Turns out I need new tyres, so it came in at £400. I don’t think I’ll get another Audi after this, so I wasn’t too bothered about keeping them sweet.

I have my 18k mile service on Friday - was quoted £390 by Maidstone Audi - moaned a bit and they dropped it to £330 (discount and also removed the oil top up pack as I hadn't used it).

I got a servicing plan so the 2nd one works out about £230. £430 is outrageous. 😂

Service was alright, nothing really to complain about. Car garages are generally not my favourite place.

Not sure how relevant but here in France if I have the servicing done at the Audi dealership then the car is covered for pan European breakdown and assistance. I have made use of this a few times when a battery was dead and when the injectors needed replaced (nice €4500 bill).
Not sure what the UK deal is on such matters?
