Hi,

It’s now been a little over a week since I picked up my 3 year old, 1 previous owner, S-Line cabriolet. It only had 18,000 miles on the clock. For a TDI 2.0 that was worryingly low, but as my daily driver/commuter, I’ve quickly had the engine warmed up and doing the miles (one eye on the particulate filter!).

I am pretty impressed with the car overall, I didn’t go out shopping for S-Line spec, but when I found the dealer in Harrogate was willing to do a deal on it, I couldn’t resist the extras that you get over the Sport model.

I had traded a BMW F30 320d luxury in on PCP, and although the low-end grunt and acceleration of the beemer just can’t be matched, handling wise on 19 inch rims the Audi is no different, although I wouldn’t push it around corners and roundabouts to the extent I did the BMW. Inside is a different matter, and it surprised me. I perceived the BMW brand to be top for interior quality and plastics, but the Audi completely trumps it - no dashboard creaks, soft plastics everywhere and real attention to detail in the simplified dashboard layout. Retrospectively comparing it to the BMW i can now see how dated the 3 series interior is, although that model is due for replacement in a couple of years time.

In the meantime when the suns out there is no place I’d rather be with the roof down, and even for a relatively small car, a 6ft 3in driver doesn’t look ridiculous in it!
