Camshaft/Timing Chain Cover seals after engine repair

Hi,

Does anyone know whether the camshaft / Timing chain cover seals would have been touched to replace the pistons, rings and rods in an engine on a B8?

I have sent you a reply to your PM over this

"Other than to specifically replace the cover lower seal, there is no reason to remove the cover when doing the repairs but some of the access work to remove the head partly goes towards removing the cover so it would be only if it was also having a timing chain system rebuild which you would have to pay extra for and it is a BIG job. There is some crossover work here which could offset some of the costs and if the car has a lot of miles on it, it would be worth thinking about because these chains are becoming an "end of the road" problem for these cars."
