Are there any known issues with the B8 engines? I have a 58 plate 2.0 tdi Avant 85k miles with a remapped (170+hp), which I love; but after a previous experience of a B5 oil pump destroying an engine at 120k miles I am wondering if it is time to let it go or do I keep it and drive it till it drops? Thanks in advance for any responses.

I know of a a 2011 B8 A4 with 180k on it, the owner has had it from brand new and apart from a wheel bearing and clutch/flywheel along with regular servicing its gave him no issues.

VAG finally sorted the oil pump issue in 2011 didn't they?

You'll still have the oil pump issue! The hex key which was known for rounding, stopping the oil pump & killing the engine on the B7 2.0TDI is still there on your car. Audi only fixed the issue with a 100mm hex key in Feb 2010. Your 2008 car will still be at risk. Either get the modification done (£215 +£125 refundable deposit + 4-5 hours labour at a specialist) or sell it on. Your choice, but other than that, I think they are good. Modification won't cost too much in the grand scheme of things, well no more than the cost of a timing belt change and you wont have to think about it ever again.
