My car is out of warranty now.

Have had few niggles sorted under warranty before but nothing major, but the peace of mind was immense.

Question is, is it worth purchasing Audi extended warranty? Would cost around £1.1k/annum.

That's a hard one. If you don't have anything go wrong you will have wasted the cash but if you have a major component go, then it could pay for itself.

If it's well serviced and maintained I'd like to think it will be ok. I have never taken out such a policy and all ok so far

On my last 2011 A7, I had water gathering in the spare wheel well which ended up corroding the main wiring loom so I got that fixed under warranty. I had only 2/3 weeks left from my years warranty when it happened (being an approved used car) so I took the extended warranty on the next 2 years for piece of mind. It was only about £500 if I remember, but that's probably a days labour if anything went wrong, never mind parts!!!
Will be taking the extended warranty for this car next year, I can't afford any big bills out of the blue!!!

I think, the best way to look for these kind of offers is to treat them as an insurance.

If it's not a big deal for you to pay £3-4km or even £10k for a major problem in cash and immediately, than the £1.1k is not a big deal for you, as you can take the risk to win the £3-4k in a three-four years term.

However, if you can't afford to pay immediately £3-4k for a major repair, than it's definitely worth the money to spend for, as in this case you can fix your costs, and you can calculate with this money in this period as a maximum fee.

Also, your car will become "old" soon. I think, if you will keep your car for more then three years, than it's worth to spend for the warranty, as in this period, your car can have several problems due to the ages, which you can't eliminate even with the better care, even if you haven't got any problem yet.

I didn't think it was worth it.
I renewed it each year for 3 years on a BMW, that was mainly due to it being heavily subsidised by BMW so was only about £350 a year. This was on a 335i, so one of their perceived less reliable cars, with potential big bills etc.
In the 3 years the only thing to go wrong was a water pump. The repair cost was just over a years premium so I was £6-700 down over the term.

When the A7 came in at over £1k there was no chance I was going to take it. For me the (hopefully small!) risk of something going that wrong is worth the savings.

What I would add is where people say about not being able to afford a big repair, you could always get a 0% credit card or even a loan to pay it off...

Mine about to run out of warranty also. 2011 used approved with about 45k on the clock now. Quote online via Audi link was £700 with no policy XS or £470 with a £250XS. Seems cheaper than your quoted £1.1k, but still not sure if its worth doing?????? Any advise anyone?

Is that for named components?

I get similar figures for named components with excess. Preferably £600+ with £100 excess I thought.

Figure I quoted was like-for-like with what Audi provided when selling the car - i.e. complete warranty with no excess.

£700 was full cover with no XS. Didn't seem to much between the named parts and full cover quotes (about £100 ish) the £470 was full cover again with £250xs

Seems that way. My renewal came via an email link. Just tapped it in after i read your post as i have not looked at renewal costs yet. Can you challenge the costs?

I can't remember the renewal reminder/quote.

I went through Audi.co.uk and obtained a quote[emoji848]

Just did my extended warranty online via the link they sent me. £467 for 1 year running from 27th May. Full Audi cover with over 15k miles and voluntary £250XS, boxes ticked. Current mileage on my car logged at 46k. Hope this gives you an idea what you should be paying.

DEF33, that's a great deal, I've been quoted around £800 on a 2012 with 43000m, need to make a decision in august when my dealer warranty expires.

Was looking at the ALA warranty calculator: ultimate cover for 3 yrs, repairs from any franchised dealer, £50 excess, claim limit of the maximum value of the vehicle at the date the policy is taken out. £1971 or 2yrs 1314 or 1yr £659

Any thoughts? too good to be true?

AK88 I am no expert, but in your shoes i would maybe approach Audi direct and see if they could match the £659 you have been quoted.
Judging by my quote they would still be making money, and you have peace of mind thats its Audi main dealer?

Or be really cheeky and see if they can match the £467 i paid. Bear in mind i ticked the £250s box though.
A friend works for Audi and i took his advise to keep the warranty going, and it is my work horse, so i have to have reliability. £467 seemed a bargain.
